Dawn Fire Ltd was established in 1982 to serve the fire protection and security industries. In 1998 the company was taken over by Roger Smith and Tony Randall who are working directors overseeing daily production, inspection and delivery personally. Ever since its foundation, quality has always been a key priority which is can be demonstrated through our ISO 9001 quality management certification which we have held since 2002 and our continued investment in new technology and machinery. Key to the effectiveness of our business is our inhouse developed production control system which allows us to schedule work, manage production, billing and deliveries and provide fast and accurate estimates.

Background

Having established our business primarily to support the fire protection industry we have developed our core capability and today work for a broad range of customers from markets sectors such as antenna manufacture, wheels & castor production, fire protection, security, oil refining & exploration, process engineering and the automotive sector. As well as volume machining we also undertake small presswork, wire & tube manipulation, mig & arc welding and light fabrication including project management of small manufacturing contracts. We regularly work with the following component types:

We also undertake prototyping work as well as reverse engineering including pressed parts, castings and moulds.

Strengths

Our key strength is our flexible and personal service. With two working directors and our staff we can effect a quick and responsive service catering to most requirements. We encourage customer involvement directly and are happy for customers to visit at any time to see how work is progressing. We operate a comprehensive production management system that allows us to quickly assess production schedules, invoicing, quotes and delivery times. We can often turn a quote around in under an hour and still be in a position to retrieve and honour that quote in 3 months time.

Fire Protection

As long standing suppliers to the major fire protection companies, we have years of experience with the production of fittings for pressurised assemblies including valves, manifolds and gas nozzles. We also manufacture and fill Nitrogen Pilot Cylinders on site, machining the valves, sub-contracting small items such as plastic caps, pressure switches and gauges. A range of wall mounts, cylinder retaining brackets and enclosures are also produced.

Customer Base

We currently work for a wide customer base mainly in the UK but also overseas, as far afield as Bermuda. We serve both large international companies who place an emphasis on traceability, standardisation and reporting, right through to small engineering firms where our personal and flexible service is a major advantage.

Quality Control

Quality control is carried out in-house using a combination of experience and regularly calibrated gauges and measuring equipment. We hold a range of regularly calibrated dimension measuring equipment which is annually inspected by our quality control accreditors.

Transport

We offer a local delivery service as well as contracting a reliable courier for nationwide sameday and nextday deliveries. Urgent deliveries upto 25kg can be delivered as standard by 9am the next day and for heavier loads upto 1 ton we offer a 1-3 day pallet service.
